Travel has been an ongoing thread since day one. Music, my means to momentum.  Restless at best, and most inspired when in motion, panoramas have always provided a welcoming shift in perspective.

Once upon a time I wanted to be a photographer. The dawning of digital changed those ideals, undermining the magic and mystery of those hours within the dark room. Minus the stop, fix, and chemicals galore, maybe it's healthier this way. The ease and accessibility in a simple click to snap, photoshop (edit), save, and upload have also welcomed the dissemination and overabundance of images sent across everyone's virtual highway. Now we "fix" images on computers, but we've also become an image-obsessed society. 

My world stems from and is rooted in memories - photography being my first love.  Especially when on the move, it's impossible to retain all the details.  Photos are like tangible placeholders attesting to a journey between trajectories- a collection in passing. In our memories, what is remembered is revered and consistently referenced- like a compass. Like flashcards they return as if only yesterday. With everything in constant flux, these markers give us something to compare if not hold onto.  As Emily Dickinson once wrote, "that it may never come again is what makes life so sweet".  To ensure we never forget, we resort to taking notes. photos, and when inspired, we aspire to liquify and materialize those notions- make art. Call these...what you see...the remains of the day(s).

The mind recalls freeze frames and limited detail: how those sinuous wrinkles confirmed timelines, the passing scenery, the highlights of an encounter in passing. Or maybe I just have a rotten memory.  Regardless, the clock’s strokes, the camera’s confirmation, and a fading memory remain witness to our encounters. Discovery invites re-discovery, and we scramble to re-tell time or immortalize these tidbits in other mediums:  freeze the fleeting -if not await / beckon a creative response!

For 4 years I sat in front of my Singer machine stitching designs hypnotized by how the zig zag stitch would advance and then return - start and then complete / finish itself.  Noting that life is neither truly linear, nor perfectly circular, the notion of the globe, the perfect circle, and us coming full circle leaves us with much to think about.  Life is this cyclical process the way new experiences consistently trigger moments of the past; our memories return in the form of images, and in echoes of sight and sound- as a start.

My journey of pendulum swings between lost, found, and re-found. It's... a very intricate web.  The journey entails creating constellations and connecting dots.

3 broken external hard drives aka 10k missing/corrupted photos and files later, I'm lost and forgetful without. I've failed the test for documenting and recording virtual tracks.  I've also skipped a few continents, needed to recalibrate my foci and regain my footing. This... has become a slow, piecemeal journey in #REWIND... in non-consecutive, intermittent, and if/when fashion...

Here's to the long road ahead: Reinvention, weaving those stitches in time... making waves, new work, and forever wending our wild ways... 

NYC's my launchpad & playground, but the world will remain and reign...as OUR oyster!
